'They Might Award Him Padma Bhushan Next Year:' Kejriwal Slams BJP Over K'taka Minister's Son Row

Taking a jab at the BJP over the Karnataka minister's son, who was found in possession of Rs 8 crores but was not arrested, CM Kejriwal claimed the party might grant him the Padma Bhushan next year.

Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi and the national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has stated that the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) may award the Padma Bhushan to the son of a Karanata minister who was found in possession of Rs 8 crores but was not arrested.

On Saturday, the Delhi Chief Minister said at a public meeting in Davangere, Karnataka's district headquarters town: "One of their (BJP) ministers' sons was discovered in possession of Rs 8 crore but has yet to be arrested. Padma Bhushan may be bestowed upon him next year."

The minister's son was discovered with Rs 8 crore, but Manish Sisodia was not arrested. "They say Manish Sisodia is corrupted but in raids, he was found to possess only Rs 10,000. They couldn't find anything even in Sisodia's bank locker," Delhi CM was quoted as saying by ANI.

The Lokayukta police reportedly found unaccounted cash of Rs 2.02 crore from the office of a party Lawmaker and chairman of a state PSU, and Rs 6.10 crore from the MLA's son's residence, causing embarrassment to the BJP before the Assembly elections.

On Thursday evening, the MLA's son was allegedly caught receiving a bribe of Rs 40 lakh in the MLA's office, prompting searches.

K Madal Virupakshappa, a state PSU, resigned as chairman of the Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Ltd (KSDL) and is now absconding. His son, V Prashanth Madal, a Karnataka Administrative Service (KAS) officer assigned to the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB), has been detained.

The two leaders also swore in the party's state office bearers, and block and circle committee members from all 224 constituencies, and pledged to endeavour to restore honesty and integrity to Karnataka politics.

The Delhi CM also urged voters in poll-bound Karnataka to give his Aam Aadmi Party a chance to provide a corruption-free administration for the next five years.

He also pledged free electricity, quality education in government schools, and enough healthcare for the people of the state.
