BJP Protests Against AAP Ahead Of Manish Sisodia's Bail Hearing Today

BJP staged a massive protest in Delhi today ahead of Manish Sisodia's bail hearing in a CBI court the liquor policy case.

New Delhi:  The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), protested against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government on Friday ahead of Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia's bail hearing at a CBI court in the liquor policy case. The Enforcement Directorate has also moved an application in a Delhi court seeking his custody for 10 days.

BJP set up small jail cells at Rouse Avenue to stage its demonstrations against the party and also put up posters of another jailed former minister Satyendar Jain, who is in Tihar jail in a money laundering case.

The protest came hours before Manish Sisodia would be produced before the Rouse Avenue court.

BJP leader Manoj Tiwari, who was present at the protest said the same would happen with Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal.

“Same things will happen with Arvind Kejriwal which happened with Manish Sisodia. After CBI, ED also arrested Manish Sisodia on the basis of proof also. Delhi's public will not believe in them now. They (AAP) have ruined the state”, Tiwari was quoted by ANI.

Sisodia was arrested on Thursday by ED for money laundering in connection with the excise policy case. He was arrested during his Judicial custody in Tihar Jail where he was lodged in a CBI case. Special Judge MK Nagpal on Friday allowed the ED plea seeking the production of Sisodia in the court. Court also noted that the ED is seeking 10 days remand of Sisodia.

Sisodia was placed under arrest under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) following his second round of questioning at the Tihar jail.

The ED alleged Sisodia was "evasive" in his replies and was "not cooperating" in the probe and hence was arrested.

Court noted that this is an application filed by ED through Advocate Naveen Kumar Matta under 267 CrPC seeking production and remand of accused Manish Sisodia for a period of 10 days.

Sisodia was arrested on February 26 by the CBI in connection with suspected corruption in creating and implementing the now-cancelled Delhi liquor or excise policy for 2021-22. He is being held in judicial custody until March 20.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal alleged that his former deputy was being kept in jail on false charges and that the ED arrested him because he would have got bail.

"First, Manish was arrested by the CBI. CBI did not find any evidence and no money was found during the raids. Tomorrow there is a bail hearing. He would have been released tomorrow. So ED arrested him today. They have only one aim – to keep Manish inside at all costs by slapping false cases. People are watching. They will reply," Kejriwal said in a tweet in Hindi.
