Covid Guidelines: States Ease Restrictions As Cases Decline — Know What's Open & Closed
As the impact of the third wave of the coronavirus wears down, States have started to reduce the restrictions.
New Delhi: States are now reducing the covid-19 restrictions which were imposed weeks ago in the wake of a sudden surge of cases. As the scenario improves across the country, state leaders have decided to lift up the curfews and provide some relaxation.
Many states have removed the night curfew and other restrictions. Schools, colleges, and offices are being reopened, as well. However, each state is following its own pace to bring back normalcy. Let us have a look at restrictions in place in various states.
Here's List Of State-Wise Restrictions; What's Open and What's Not
- Maharashtra: The Maharashtra government has eased the restrictions over 11 municipal corporations including Mumbai. They further announced that there will be no restrictions on night movement in Mumbai and beaches, parks and gardens shall remain open as per their usual timings in the city. Restaurants and theatres can also operate at a 50% capacity, as per BMC.
- Karnataka: Night curfew is no longer in place across the state. Schools and colleges will also reopen in Bengaluru. Education Minister BC Nagesh had tweeted, "From Monday, all classes will be operational in schools with the strict implementation of COVID19 appropriate behaviour and protocol."
- Andhra Pradesh: The night curfew has been withdrawn from Andhra Pradesh as well. The CM, Jagan Mohan Reddy, however, urged the people to follow covid related norms and continue wearing masks.
- Bihar: Night curfew as well as several other curbs, which were in place for over a month in the state, have now been removed.
- Jammu and Kashmir: The Jammu and Kashmir State Executive Committee (SEC) shared that the night curfew will now be lifted after six months and the educational institutions will also be reopened in a phased manner.
- Chandigarh: Night curfews have been lifted in Chandigarh as well. Schools and coaching institutes can reopen with full capacity from February 14. However, the classes will take place in a hybrid mode.
- Rajasthan: Night curfew has also been brought to an end by the Ashok Gehlot-led government. It was in place since the second wave of Covid-19.
- Assam: The night curfew which was in place from 11 pm to 4 am will be lifted from February 15 onwards.
- Bengal: The night curfew shall remain in place from 12 am to 5 am in Bengal, till February 28. The government announced that primary and upper primary schools shall reopen with effect from February 16. This will happen keeping in mind all covid-related protocols.
- Delhi: The night curfew has been extended in Delhi but the timings have been reduced by an hour. The curfew will be in place from 11 pm to 5 am now. Non-essential shops can remain open till 8 pm. Schools in the capital are set to reopen as well but in a phased manner. Classes 9 to 12 can resume from February 7, while that of the nursery to standard 8 will begin from February 14.
- Uttar Pradesh: The night curfew has been reduced by an hour in the Yogi Adityanath ruled state. The curfew was in place from 10 pm to 6 am earlier, now it will begin at 11 pm and end at 6 am. The government announced that private and government offices are allowed to function at full capacity. Meanwhile, schools from nursery to class 12th will reopen Monday onwards.
- Gujarat: The government has relaxed the night curfew timings in eight cities including Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Jamnagar, Junagadh, and Gandhinagar. In these eight cities, curfew will be imposed from midnight till 5 am from February 11 to 18, instead of the earlier 10 pm to 6 am in 27 cities.
- Odisha: A number of restrictions have been removed by the Naveen Patnaik-led government. However, the night curfew will stay in place from 10 pm to 5 am for February.
