Covid-19 Tracker: Maharashtra Records 2,436 New Cases, Delhi 1,330 As Nationwide Tally Reaches 2,26,770

Delhi on Friday reported nearly 1,330 new COVID-19 positive cases, making the the total number of active cases be 15311, and total cases since outbreak as 26334. The death toll stands at 708.

New Delhi: Over the past few days, the worst-hit state Maharashtra has been reporting a continuous surge in number of fatalities. With 139 deaths in past 24 hours, Maharashtra again report the highest single-day fatalities in the state, pushing the death tally to 2,894 on Friday. The second-highest number of deaths in 24 hours stood at 123 on Thursday. As per the claims maid by  state health department, the state has recorded an encouraging recovery rate of 43.29 percent, a mortality rate of 3.48 percent; and has conducted more than half-million tests. Despite this, the state surpassed the grim milestone of 80,000 novel Coronavirus cases since the outbreak. As per the latest  updates from the authorities, 2,436 more patients tested positive for the highly contagious disease. With this, the total number of active cases present in the state stands at 80,229 as on Friday. State capital Mumbai itself registered as many as 1,150 new Covid-19 cases and 53 deaths. With this addition, the total number of positive cases in Mumbai has raced to 45854 while the death toll of the financial capital stands at 1,518, said Municipal Corporation. On the whole, India recorded a jump in the total Coronavirus cases with a spike of 9,851 COVID-19 cases on Thursday, pushing the nationwide tally to 2,26,770. With this surge, India now stands at seventh position among the nations worst hit by the Covid-19 pandemic after the US, Brazil, Russia, the UK, Spain and Italy. Meanwhile, Delhi on Friday reported nearly 1330 new COVID-19 positive cases, making the the total number of active cases be 15311, and total cases since outbreak as 26,334. The death toll stands at 708. On Thursday, national capital registered as many as 1359 new positive cases. The official had reported that 22 people lost lives with 24 hours, making death toll stand at 650. Moreover, 356 patients recovered from the deadly Coronavirus disease yesterday. With this, the total number of patients who have recovered in the state appears to be 9,898.
