India Records Highest Single-Day Jump Of 507 Covid Deaths, Cases In the Country Cross 5.85 Lakh Mark

New Delhi: India coronavirus cases have crossed 5.85 lakh-mark taking confirmed patients toll to 5,85,493 including 2,20,114 active cases 3,47,979 recovered and over 17k deaths, according to health ministry's figures released on Wednesday. The recovery rate is 59.43 percent, as per government data. The total sample tested till June 30 is 88,26,585. At least 2,17,931 samples were tested on Tuesday, of which 8.55 percent turned out positive. Worst Hit States The total number of active cases in Maharashtra crossed the 75,000 mark. The state reported 4,878 new coronavirus cases taking the state’s tally to 1,74,761. Mumbai, which is the worst affected region in the state, has reported 893 new coronavirus cases. Mumbai’s coronavirus tally now stands at 77,658 which is second after Delhi. A strict lockdown has been enforced in a few areas in the state and stringent restrictions have been put in place in Mumbai. India's second-worst affected state Tamil Nadu has breached he 90,000 mark, the number of active cases in the state stands at 38,892 with over 50,000 recoveries While the national capital has recorded 87,360 coronavirus cases, more than 75 percent of the total coronavirus cases in Delhi were reported in June, when the curbs were eased during Unlock1, according to the Delhi government's health department data. According to the data, 66,526 fresh coronavirus cases were reported from June 1 to June 30. Global Update Around the world, more than 1.43 crore people have been infected by the Coronavirus. The US (2,629,372), Brazil (1,402,041), Russia (6,46,929), India (5,66,840) and United Kingdom (3,14,160) remain the worst affected. Around 5.09 lakh people have died due to coronavirus. The US, Brazil, United Kingdom, Italy, and France have recorded the most number of the COVID-19 related deaths, as per data released by the Johns Hopkins University and Medicine Coronavirus Resource Center.
