'No Relaxation In Lockdown In Delhi As Of Now,' Says Kejriwal; Key Takeaways From His Speech

Kejriwal announced that after the assessment of the prevailing situation in Delhi, the government has decided not to sanction any relaxation in the lockdown.

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday stated there will be no relaxation in the lockdown rule in the national capital as 11 districts in the national capital fall under the Coronavirus hotspot zones. Addressing a video conference, Kejriwal said the government will assess the situation again after one week. As the virus has started spreading, containment zones have been increased, he said, but assured the situation is under control. "There have been instances where people without symptoms were found infected by COVID-19." Here are the key points from CM Kejriwal's speech:
  • Kejriwal said the situation will be evaluated after a week and if there is an improvement, in that case, relaxation will be granted.
  • The Chief Minister said after the assessment of the prevailing situation in Delhi, we have decided not to sanction any relaxation in the lockdown.
  • He said 186 more cases were recorded on Saturday and all were asymptomatic. They didn't know they had Coronavirus. This is more worrying," he said, adding one among the positive cases was distributing food in the government's hunger relief shelter.
  • Kejriwal further said in the last few days, Delhi has seen a spike in cases of Coronavirus. Consequently, he warned people of the dangers of not following social distancing during the lockdown by citing the case in a containment zone.
  • He said proper planning is needed for the relaxation in the lockdown. The center is saying that we should not relax the lockdown in the containment zones/hotspots. As all the 11 districts of Delhi are declared hotspots. So, according to the Centre, no relaxation can be given in Delhi.
  • He also said wherever people are following orders, cases are not increasing.
  • The CM has ordered to hold rapid testing of people who came in contact with one positive case at a food center. He also asked to perform the rapid testing along with others working at our centers.
  • He said though the cases are on the rise, the situation is still under control.
  •  About 1,900 cases are in the city and 26 patients are in the ICU and six are on the ventilators, he said.
Total number of COVID-19 positive cases rise to 15,712 in India including 12,974 active cases, 2,230 cured/discharged/migrated people and 507 deaths. The Coronavirus cases in Delhi have reached 1,893. Watch Full Address Here:
