Coronavirus HIGHLIGHTS, 25 April, 2021, Sunday: With the prevailing Covid-19 crisis in the country which has led to an acute shortage of oxygen and Remdesivir - a crucial antiviral drug used for the virus’s treatment - the Centre on Saturday increased the allocation of the injections to 19 States/UTs till April 30.
Among these, Maharashtra - by far the worst affected - has again been allotted the lion’s share of 4,35,000 does as against the 2,69,200 vials earlier. It was followed by Gujarat with the second-highest allocation of 1,65,000 doses against the 1,63,500 earlier, Uttar Pradesh will now get 1,61,000 doses, up from 1,22,800 vials.
Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi late on Saturday night said it had medical oxygen left to last only about 45 minutes to an hour. The oxygen tanker arrived at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital late at night, news agency ANI reported.
A private medical facility in Delhi's Uttam Nagar, Gandhi Hospital, also sent out an SOS for oxygen, saying they had about an hour's supply of oxygen left.
It was the fourth time Sir Ganga Ram Hospital had sent an SOS for medical oxygen in less than 24 hours.

This is the lowest daily addition to its caseload since March 31, when 5,394 new cases were detected, and it is the first time since April 12 that the number of new daily cases is below the 7,000-mark.
