Covid 19: Restricted Entry For Outsiders, Guests In Jamia Millia Islamia Campus
In order to further strengthen the safety of the campus only Gate no 4 and 13 will be operational as exit/entry points, the university administration said in a statement.
New Delhi: With Delhi emerging as one of the major hotspots for the coronavirus pandemic, Jamia Millia Islamia has decided to restrict the entry of outsiders including guests inside the campus, and the university administration has also asked all mosques in residential colonies near the campus to minimise presence only to Imams, Muezzins and caretakers.
The directives came as university campus lies in close proximity with some areas which are under containment zones.
"In order to further strengthen the safety of the campus only Gate no 4 and 13 will be operational as exit/entry points. Rest of the gates to be locked till further order," the university administration said in a statement.
"In view of the new cases of corona positive emerging and surrounding pockets being declared as containment zones, it's imperative to follow social distancing norms and practice of going to mosques to be avoided till situation improves. The mosques in residential colonies to minimise the presence only to Imams, Muezzins and caretakers," it added.
According to the directives, the campus will now not allow entry of any outsiders including guests and any gathering inside the campus will be prohibited. As of Monday, the national capital had 2,003 active cases of COVID-19 with the death toll reaching 45.
