Coronavirus: India's Single Day Covid-19 Cases Near 10,000; 273 Deaths In 24 Hours
India is now at seventh position among the nations worst hit by the COVID-19 pandemic after the US, Brazil, Russia, the UK, Spain and Italy
New Delhi: The number of per-day cases in India has been escalating rapidly to near the grim mark of 10,000. On Friday morning, India witnessed a record number of single-day cases - 9,851 and 273 deaths in 24-hour-duration, making the picture worrisome as almost all economic activities have been opened up. With 9,851 new cases the total number of Coronavirus In India has jumped to 2,26,770. The death toll has shot up to 6,348. India reports 9,851 new Covid-19 cases and 273 deaths in the last 24 hours. Total number of cases in the country now at 2,26,770 including 1,10,960 active cases,1,09,462 cured/discharged/migrated and 6348 deaths, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare stated.
Maharashtra leads with highest concentration of coronavirus cases, recording as many as 77, 793 numbers till date. In terms of deaths as well, the state has recorded the maximum fatalities in past 24 hours. Of the 6,348 deaths in past one day, Maharashtra reported 2,710 deaths, followed by Gujarat - 1,155, Delhi - 650, Madhya Pradesh - 377, West Bengal – 355. Tamil Nadu has second highest concentration of cases - 27,256 , followed by Delhi- 25,004 cases. Indian Council of Medical Reasearch has said that it has tested 43,86,376 samples till now, of which 1,43,661 samples have been tested in the last 24 hours.
The Union health ministry of India has said that country's recovery rate stands at 47.99 per cent with total of 1,09,461 patients reporting to have recovered from the disease.

India is behind Italy’s tally with just 7,243 new cases, as per the figures provided by Worldometers. With the rate of increase in cases, it is very likely to surpass Italy in terms of total number of cases. However the death toll in India remains way behind Italy’s.
