India Reports 18,454 Covid Cases In Last 24 Hrs As Cases In Kerala Surge Again

Corona Cases Update: India has reported a slight surge in Covid cases as the country registered 18,454 new cases in the last 24 hours. The active caseload of the country now stands at 1,78,831. The recovery rate is currently at 98.15% which is the highest since March 2020.
Kerala
After recording less than 10,000 COVID cases for the last few days, fresh infections jumped to 11,150 in Kerala on Wednesday which raised the total caseload to 48,70,584.
From October 14 to October 19, the state had recorded less than 10,000 fresh COVID cases daily.
On Wednesday, the state also recorded 82 deaths which took the total fatalities to 27,084.
With 8,592 more people recovering from the virus since Tuesday, the total recoveries touched 47,69,373 and the active cases dropped to 82,738, a state government release said.
Among the 14 districts, Ernakulam recorded the highest with 2,012 cases, followed by Thiruvananthapuram (1,700), Thrissur (1,168) and Kozhikode (996).
Maharashtra
Maharashtra's Pune city reported zero COVID-19 deaths on Wednesday, for the first time in the last eight months, an official said.
As many as 112 fresh COVID-19 cases were reported in the Pune Municipal Corporation limits during the day, taking the overall tally to 5,03,469, while no casualties were reported during the day, the official said.
"Today, not a single COVID-19 death was reported in the Pune municipal limits. This the first time since February 6 earlier this year," Pune mayor Murlidhar Mohol tweeted.
Pune city has so far recorded 9,067 deaths.
A total of 406 new cases were reported in Pune district, raising the tally of infections in the region to 11,48,067, while with six casualties the toll touched 19,059, it was stated.
