India Reports 38,079 Covid Cases, 560 Deaths In Last 24 Hrs; Recovery Rate At 97%

India has reported 38,079 new cases in the last 24 hours.

Covid Update: The country has been reporting around 38,000 cases for the past 2 days with a marginal drop which is a worrying sign for people amid the third wave scare. India has reported 38,079 new cases and 560 deaths in last 24 hours, active caseload at 4,24,025; recovery rate rises to 97.31%.

The Indian Council of Medical Research said that the total number of samples tested up to 16th July is 44,20,21,954 including 19,98,715 samples tested yesterday.

Karnataka witnessed dip in 2000 cases

With the pandemic's second wave curve flattening, new Covid cases dipped below 2,000 in a day, while deaths declined to 42 in Karnataka, said the state health bulletin on Friday.

"Only 1,806 new cases were registered on Thursday, taking the state's Covid tally to 28,80,370, including 31,399 active cases, while recoveries increased to 28,12,869, with 2,748 patients discharged during the day," said the bulletin.

As the epicenter of the pandemic in the state, Bengaluru, however, reported only 411 fresh cases on Thursday, taking its Covid tally to 12,21,371, including 12,376 active cases, while 11,93,213 recovered, with 549 patients discharged in the last 24 hours.

Bengal reports 882 new Covid cases, 17 deaths

 The COVID-19 positivity rate in West Bengal on Friday declined to 1.54 per cent as 882 new cases of the infection were reported from various parts of the state, the health department said in a bulletin.

The tally thus rose to 15,13,877, it added.

The death toll went up to 17,944 after 17 more fatalities were registered in the last 24 hours.

North 24 Parganas district accounted for three deaths while Kolkata registered one fatality, the bulletin said.
