'Convene Special Session Of Parliament Immediately': Rahul Gandhi Writes To PM Modi

Rahul Gandhi said that it is crucial for the people and the Members of Parliament to discuss these issue and demonstrate the collective resolve to meet the challenges.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday urged Prime Minister to convene a special session of Parliament to discuss the Pahalgam terror attack, Operation Sindoor and the ceasefire announcement between India and Pakistan.

The Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha said that it is crucial for the people and the Members of Parliament to discuss these issue and demonstrate the collective resolve to meet the challenges.

"I reiterate the unanimous request of the Opposition to convene a special session of Parliament immediately. It is crucial for the people and their representatives to discuss the Pahalgam terror attack, Operation Sindoor and today’s ceasefire, first announced by U.S. President Trump," Rahul Gandhi wrote in the letter, which was shared by the Congress on X.

"This will also be an opportunity to demonstrate our collective resolve to meet the challenges ahead," the letter added.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge also wrote a letter to PM Modi calling for a special session of Parliament to discuss the Pahalgam attack, Operation Sindoor, and the ceasefire announcements.

"In view of the latest developments, the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha has already written to you again conveying the unanimous request of all opposition parties for a special session of Parliament to discuss the Pahalgam attack, Operation Sindoor, and the ceasefire announcements, first from Washington DC and later by the governments of India and Pakistan," Kharge said in his letter.

India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire along the Line of Control and International Border on Saturday. The tensions between India and Pakistan soared at an all-time high after the Indian Armed Forces hit terror launchpads in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) last week in response to the Pahalgam attack.

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri announced that the directors general of military operations (DGMOs) of India and Pakistan have agreed to stop all firings and military action on land, air and sea with effect from 5 pm on Saturday.
