'Frequent Flyer Is Off To Kuwait': Congress Slams PM Modi Again For Not Visiting Manipur
The Congress party criticised Prime Minister Modi for visiting Kuwait while Manipur remains plagued by violence.
The Congress party on Saturday took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his latest foreign visit to Kuwait saying the "frequent flyer" is off to the West Asian country while people of Manipur continue to wait for his visit.
PM Modi embarked on his two-day visit to Kuwait on Sunday, the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister in the last 43 years.
Congress general secretary in-charge Jairam Ramesh wrote on X: "Such is their fate, as Mr Modi refuses to find a date. The people of Manipur continue to wait, while the Frequent Flyer PM is off to Kuwait."
Manipur has been in the grip of an ethnic violence that first broke out on May 3 last year after a tribal solidarity march in the hill districts of the state to protest against the majority Meitei community's demand for Scheduled Tribe status.
Since then, over 220 people belonging to the Meitei and Kuki communities along with security personnel have been killed in the violence.
Such is their fate,

A fresh exchange of fire was reported from a village on the periphery of Manipur's Imphal West district, said the police on Friday, adding the incident took place on Thursday.
According to the police, armed men suspected to be from Saheibung and L Jagnomphai in Kangpokpi district opened fire from the hilltops, targeting Tairenpokpi village in Imphal West.
The firing prompted the armed 'village volunteers' Tairenpokpi to retaliate, triggering a gunfight, the police added.
There were no casualties reported from the gunfight which stopped after a while, as per the cops.
On Saturday, three persons were arrested by the Manipur police with arms and ammunition, including a cadre of a banned outfit during separate operations in Churachandpur and Imphal West districts, said the officials.
The arrested members belonged to the outlawed Kangleipak Communist Party (Peoples' War Group) and were involved in extortion activities, they said.
Two persons from Lamzang village in Churachandpur district were also apprehended by security forces on Friday.
