'Snooping Agencies Deployed As Soon As Adani Touched': Rahul Gandhi On Oppn Leaders Getting 'Hacking' Alerts

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has targetted PM Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah saying that opposition leaders' phones were being hacked because they asked questions on Adani.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday said that several leaders of the opposition parties have received "state-sponsored attackers could be targeting your device" alert on their iPhone devices, adding that that snooping was being done as soon as "Adani" was touched. He said that party leaders like K C Venugopal, Pawan Khera, and several other opposition members got the alert on their devices.

"As soon as Adani is touched, intelligence agencies, snooping are deployed," Gandhi said, adding that the businessman is at the top and is followed by PM Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Rahul Gandhi was addressing a press conference after several leaders of the opposition parties received the alert on their Apple iPhone devices. Gandhi said multiple leaders alleged their Apple devices were being "hacked".

"...Earlier, I used to think number 1 is PM Modi, number 2 is Adani and number 3 is Amit Shah, but this wrong, number 1 is Adani, number 2 is PM Modi and number 3 is Amit Shah. We have understood the politics of India and now Adani ji cannot escape. Distraction politics is going on..." the Congress MP said.

"A number of people in my office have got this message... In Congress, KC Venugopal ji, Supriya, Pawan Khera have got it too...They (BJP) are trying to distract the attention of the youth," he added.

He said the "government" can do as much phone tapping as possible, adding that they can take his phone. "I am not scared," he said.

When asked about removing 'Adani Sarkar' from the country, the Wayanad MP said, "This is an interesting problem. I have some ideas. We will show how the Adani Govt can be removed when the time comes. Do not think that Adani ji will be removed by removing the Govt. Adani ji is the symbol of the kind of monopolisation currently going on in the country. The financial system of BJP is directly linked with him (Adani)..."

This came after several parliamentarians Mahua Moitra, Shashi Tharoor, Priyanka Chaturvedi, and Asaduddin Owaisi shared on X, formerly Twitter, that they received official notifications on their iPhone handsets, suggesting that “state-sponsored attackers” could be targeting their devices. While this may have come as a surprise to many, Apple does have a dedicated notification system in place, designed to safeguard and support users who may have fallen prey to the clutches of state-sponsored attackers. Rahul Gandhi said that the government was indulging in "distraction" politics. "Gautam Adani was given the ports of India, Mumbai airport was given to him by using CBI and ED. They (Centre) made agriculture laws to favour him. They (Centre) are giving away the whole country to some of these people," he said.

He claimed that "Adani's monopoly" and caste census are directly connected and that he is trying to show the connection to the people of India.
