Congress Infighting Spreads Overseas, This Time Over Newly Appointed Chiefs For European Units
Surinder Singh Rana has written a letter to Sam Pitroda alleging that people who are not even members of the organisation have been made "country heads" of the Overseas Congress.
New Delhi: India's grand old party and the main opposition, Congress is consistently failing to resolve the infighting, not just in state units of the party but also units in abroad i.e. Overseas Congress.
The Overseas Congress Department headed by technocrat-turned-politician Sam Pitroda finished a flurry of appointments of “Country Presidents”, all of Indian origin, in nine countries across Europe. Along with this, the Core Committee of Europe was also formed. But Surinder Singh Rana, one of the three patrons of this core committee, has opened a front against these appointments.
Surinder Singh Rana, who was the President of the Holland Overseas Congress before the reshuffle, has written a letter to Sam Pitroda alleging that people who are not even members of the organisation have been made "country heads" of the Overseas Congress.
"I was surprised to know that the appointment letters have been issued to some non-members stating that the existing Presidents of IOC have been consulted. I have talked to the existing Presidents of IOC to enquire whether they have given their consent for the same or otherwise," Surinder Singh said.
"It is evident that the appointment letters have been issued to non-members on a false statement. As such, it is suggested that all such appointment letters should be cancelled. There should be no interference of Mr Himanshu Vyas and Mr Rajwinder Singh. The Presidents already appointed for various countries should continue," Rana said, demanding immediate cancellation of all such appointments.
According to Overseas Congress sources, there is a lot of resentment among the people of the organisation regarding the new appointments.
Talking to ABP News, Rana said that Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi will be approached if needed. According to him, posts have been given to people who are new and do not have a good reputation, instead of old and experienced people associated with the Overseas Congress.
Meanwhile, Congress's National Secretary and Overseas Congress's co-in-charge Virendra Vashistha has said that he is not aware of this development. he further said that Surinder Rana is a senior member of the organisation and everyone has the right to express their views while being in discipline within the party.
