Chirag Paswan To Hold Roadshow Across Bihar On Father’s Birth Anniversary; Demands Bharat Ratna For Ram Vilas Paswan

The Jamui MP, who earlier in the day attended a national executive meeting in which the members reportedly condemned and opposed the use of LJP’s symbol and name by the expelled members, also appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government to confer his late father with Bharat Ratna.

Patna: Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) leader and Jamui MP Chirag Paswan, who is locked in a dispute with his uncle Pashupati Kumar Paras over control of the party, on Sunday announced to hold a roadshow across Bihar on the occasion of his father Ram Vilas Paswan’s birth anniversary on July 5.

“My father’s birth anniversary falls on July 5. My father and my uncle are not with me anymore. So, we’ve decided to take out an ‘Aashirvaad Yatra’ from July 5 from Hajipur. The yatra will pass through all districts of Bihar. We need more love and blessings from the people,” ANI quoted Chirag as saying.

The Jamui MP, who earlier in the day attended a national executive meeting in which the members reportedly condemned and opposed the use of LJP’s symbol and name by the expelled members, also appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government to confer his late father with Bharat Ratna.

“The demand was raised to confer the Bharat Ratna upon the late Ram Vilas Paswan and install a big statue of him in Bihar,” he said.

Earlier on Wednesday, Chirag alleged he was illegally removed as the party chief by a faction led by his uncle.

Holding Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar-led Janata Dal (United) “solely responsible” for the current rift in his party, Chirag said: “The JD (U) as a party has always tried to divide other parties that come up to give them a fight.”

“We are devising a legal way to respond to everything that has happened in the past few days,” he added.

Paras, who represents the Hajipur Lok Sabha seat in Bihar, also hit back at Chirag.

“You must ask Chirag Paswan why he removed me from the state president’s post. He did it even when he doesn’t hold power. We contested Bihar elections under my supervision and all 6 MPs won. We received the highest percentage of vote as per the Election Commission’s report,” he said.

The war of words came as Paras was earlier this week unanimously elected as the LJP parliamentary leader in the Lok Sabha.
