Two Goods Trains Derail In Chhattisgarh. Howrah-Mumbai Rail Traffic Hit

According to them, the incident occurred at 4:15 p.m. in the yard of Jamgaon railway station, interrupting rail traffic on the Howrah-Mumbai Up and Down lines.

New Delhi: A goods train collided with a halted freight train in Chhattisgarh's Raigarh district, derailing 18 waggons and disrupting traffic on the key Howrah-Mumbai line on Monday, according to Railway officials. No injuries were reported.

According to them, the incident occurred at 4:15 p.m. in the yard of Jamgaon railway station, interrupting rail traffic on the Howrah-Mumbai Up and Down lines, news agency PTI reported.

Both steel-laden trains were on their way to Bilaspur.

The goods train in the yard was preparing to depart when another freight train unexpectedly appeared on the same track and slammed into it. According to a Railway public relations official in Bilaspur, the accident caused 18 waggons from the two trains to fall off the rails.

According to him, railway authorities from the Bilaspur rail division hurried to the accident scene, where repair work was in progress.

"The exact reason for the occurrence will only be discovered after a thorough investigation," the officer was quoted by PTI in its report.

Two passenger trains were cancelled as a result of the disaster, while the itineraries of six others were modified, he added.
