Centre To Release Rs 100 Coin To Commemorate 100th Episode Of PM Modi's 'Mann Ki Baat'

The Centre will release a Rs 100 coin to mark the completion of 100 episodes of PM Narendra Modi's monthly radio programme, 'Mann Ki Baat'.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s monthly radio programme ‘Mann Ki Baat’ is set tp complete its 100th episode this Sunday, on April 30. The Centre is oragnisaing various events starting from Wednesday with National Conclave on Mann Ki Baat. To mark the 100 editions of the programme, the Centre will also release a Rs 100 coin. The coin is said to be different from the normal coins in practice. 

How Rs 100 Coin Will Look Like

The Rs 100 coin which will be released to mark the 100 successful episodes of PM Modi’s monthly radio broadcast ‘Mann Ki Baat’ will feature a microphone and the year ‘2023’ on it. As per the notification issued by the government, only one hundred rupees coin will be minted. The coin will have a diametre of 44 mm. It will be made of four metals - 50 per cent silver, 40 per cent copper, 5 per cent nickel, and 5 per cent zinc.  

The government said that the front of the coin will have Ashoka Pillar and ‘Satyamev Jayate’ will be written below it. ‘Bharat’ will be inscribed in Devnagari on the left side while INDIA in English will be written on the right side. The coin will also have the ₹ symbol along with ‘100’ engraved on it.  

There will also be a symbol of the 100th episode of Mann Ki Baat, in which there will be a picture of a microphone with sound waves. 'Mann Ki Baat 100' will be written in Hindi and English. The total weight of the coin will be 35 grams. 

 Rs 100 Coins Issued Earlier 

This will not be the first time when Centre will release a Rs 100 coin. Earlier, on many occasions, the government issued such coins to commemorate certain special moments and days. Rs 100 coin was issued in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2014 and 2015.  

Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself released a coin of Rs 100 in memory of Atal Bihari. A coin of Rs 100 was also issued on the occasion of the birth centenary of Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia. A coin of 100 rupees was also released on the 476th birth anniversary of Maharana Pratap.
