Central Vista Project: Ahluwalia Contracts Lowest Bidder To Build Executive Enclave Housing New PMO

The Central Vista project includes the construction of Prime Minister's Office (PMO), Cabinet Secretariat, India House and the National Security Council Secretariat.

New Delhi: The Ahluwalia Contracts India Limited on Tuesday emerged as the lowest bidder for the construction of Executive Enclave as part of Modi government's ambitious Central Vista project, news agency PTI quoted official document.

The project includes the construction of Prime Minister's Office (PMO), Cabinet Secretariat, India House and the National Security Council Secretariat.

Headquartered in Delhi, the Ahluwalia Contracts submitted a bid of around Rs 1,119 crore, which was reportedly 3.5 per cent less than the Rs 1,160-crore cost quoted by the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) which has been executing the project.

Tata Projects Limited, which is constructing a new Parliament building, quoted Rs 1,154 crore. NCC Limited quoted a bid amount of around Rs 1,158 crore and Larsen & Toubro Limited around Rs 1,317 crore, the news agency quoted official document.

Speaking on the development, an official told PTI that usually the lowest bidder is awarded the contract and added the Board of CPWD will decide on awarding the tender in the next few days.

The estimated cost of construction and maintenance of the Executive Enclave, which will be built on the south side of the South Block in plot number 36/38 in the high-security Lutyens' Delhi, has been pegged at Rs 1,160.17 crore by the CPWD.

It is also being said that the new PMO will have three floors each 4.75 metres high, in addition to the basement and ground floor.

Even the new cabinet secretariat and the National Security Council Secretariat will have similar structures.

The Union government is aiming to complete the construction of the new Parliament complex by October this year, with plans afoot to hold the Winter Session of Parliament in the new building.

Construction of the new Parliament building has achieved 44 per cent physical progress so far, Kaushal Kishore, Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs had told news agency IANS earlier this month.
