'Modi Govt Couldn't Stop Bharat Jodo Yatra, Did Sceptre Thing, Lying Down...': Rahul's Dig At PM, BJP In US

Rahul Gandhi took a dig at PM Narendra Modi and BJP in US and said that since Modi government cannot work on real issues, the PM did the sceptre thing.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday addressed an event in  San Francisco, the United States where he slammed the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led BJP government in India. He said that PM Modi is lying down and since his government cannot work on unemployment, inflation and crumbling education and hence he is doing the 'sceptre thing' and Parliament inauguration. He said this while responding to a question on the increase in the number of seats in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.

Rahul Gandhi was speaking with the Indian diaspora in San Franciso, United States. Here, he told the Indian diaspora, "If you believed in anger, hatred and arrogance, you would be sitting in a BJP meeting."

He said that the Modi government tried everything to stop Bharat Jodo Yatra "but its impact kept on increasing".

Talking about his 'Bharat Jodo Yatra', he said, "It was India that walked with us. Large number of people walking with us in Bharat Jodo Yatra created an atmosphere of love and affection. That’s when ‘Nafrat Ke Bazaar Mein, Mohabbat Ki Dukaan’ originated."

The Bharat Jodo Yatra carried the spirit of affection, respect and humility, he added. "If one studies history, it can be seen that all spiritual leaders—including Guru Nanak Dev ji, Guru Basavanna ji, Narayana Guru ji—united the nation in a similar way," Gandhi said.

He slammed the BJP and said that the saffron party is 'threatening' people and 'misusing' government agencies.

"The Bharat Jodo Yatra started because all the instruments that we needed to connect with the people were controlled by the BJP-RSS," Gandhi added.

Taking a veiled jibe at BJP leaders, Rahul Gandhi said, "A few people in India are absolutely convinced that they know everything. They think they can explain history to historians, science to scientists and warfare to the army. But at the core of it is mediocrity. They're not ready to listen!"
