BSP MP Shyam Singh Yadav Likely To Join Congress Ahead Of Lok Sabha Polls

BSP Lok Sabha MP from Jaunpur Shyam Singh Yadav is likely to join Congress.

In a jolt to the Bahujan Samaj Party ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, Lok Sabha MP from Jaunpur, Shyam Singh Yadav, is likely to join Congress. According to sources, he recently met Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. Yadav has met the Wayanad MP at 10 Janpath. Earlier, there was speculation that Yadav may join Bharatiya Janata Party. He had praised the Union Budget and the Budget of UP Government.

Earlier this month, the BSP suspended its Member of Parliament, Danish Ali, for alleged anti-party activities. A statement from the party cited repeated violations of party policies, ideology, and discipline as the reason behind the move.

The official party statement read, "You have been verbally instructed multiple times not to indulge in any statements or actions against the party's policies, ideology, and discipline. Despite these warnings, you persistently engage in activities against the party." The statement also highlighted Danish Ali's previous association with the Janata Dal (Secular)

"Until 2018, you were working as a member of Shri Devegowda's Janata Dal (Secular). In the 2018 Karnataka elections, you actively participated in the alliance between the Bahujan Samaj Party and Janata Dal (Secular). After the election results, at Shri Devegowda's request, you were given a ticket from Amroha as a BSP candidate. Before granting you this ticket, Shri Devegowda assured you that, after receiving the BSP ticket, you would always adhere to the party's policies and directives, working in the party's best interest. You had also reiterated this assurance before him," the statement mentioned.

In the same month, BSP chief Mayawati anointed her nephew Akash Anand as the party's next chief after chairing a party meeting in Lucknow. The meeting was attended by Legislative Party leader Umashankar Singh and State President Vishwanath Pal. Leaders from 28 states were also present in the meeting, according to an ABP News report.

Son of Mayawati's younger brother Anand Kumar, Akash was brought to the political forefront by her aunt at a rally in Saharanpur after the party's defeat in the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls.
