BSF Boosts Surveillance Capabilities Amid Standoff With Neighbours; Tests Indigenous Anti-Drone System Near Borders

Amid the ongoing border dispute with neighbouring China, Border Security Force (BSF) is set to undergo technological upgradation.

At the time when country is going through rough border relations with neighbours, it is important to be prepared as well as upgrade the forces. Over the past two to three months, the Indian Defence wing has been trying to be more active on all three fronts of its national boundaries. From receiving Rafale jets to ordering deadly missiles from Russia, India is making its troops, Navy and Air Force prepared for any sort of threat. Complete List Of Fighter Aircraft That Can Bolster IAF Amid Border Tensions If reports are to be believed, the BSF has received the approval for 436 small and micro drones in order to upgrade the force and boost border surveillance capabilities against enemy. A Hindustan Times report has stated that an anti-drone system is being currently tested on India-Pakistan border to shoot down any drone carrying weapon-load for terrorists in Punjab, and Jammu and Kashmir. Moreover, a Comprehensive Integrated Border Management (CIBM) plan has been launched under which all the 1923 border outposts manned by BSF on Pakistan and Bangladesh border will be equipped with sensors, CCTV and drone feeds. The report further mentioned that as many as 1,500 posts will be allowed to fly drone to recce the border and use anti-drone system to shoot any weapon pay-load transportation from across. The report quoted an official from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) informing that the cost of small and micro drone will come around Rs 88 crore. Meanwhile, the Security Forces are also testing an indigenous anti-drone system on the Punjab border. Earlier this month, it was reported that India is also focusing on its oceanic routes and plans to boost surveillance capabilities against enemy warships operating in the Indian Ocean region. The Indian Navy will deploy the drones on big size warships of the force so that it would help in keeping a close eye on the movement of the Chinese as well as other adversaries in and around Indian territorial waters.
