Prime Minister Modi will be hosting a meeting of the Council of ministers on Wednesday to discuss many ongoing issues. It is understood that the rising cases of Omicron and the upcoming assembly elections will be on the primary agenda of the meeting. 

The Center has asked the States and UTs to activate the "war rooms" and step up in Covid-19 containment. To curb the spread of this "three-times transmissible virus", the government has laid down guidelines to ensure Covid appropriate behavior.

Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today announced the implementation of Level - I (Yellow Alert) under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP). Under new restrictions introduced night curfew now will be from 10 pm to 5 am.

In other news, the protests by the doctors are intensifying in the national capital. The agitation, led by the Federation of Resident Doctors' Association, entered its 13th day on Wednesday, even as patient care remained affected at three Centre-run facilities -- Safdarjung, RML and Lady Hardinge hospitals and some of the Delhi government-run hospitals.

The NEET-PG examination was postponed in 2021 owing to Covid-19, and the counselling and admission procedure has also been postponed. As a result of the delay, resident doctors are being asked to work extended hours under stressful conditions, resulting in a significant personnel shortage.

US Prez Biden To Offer Putin 'Diplomatic Path' On Ukraine Tensions, Says White House

Amid tensions over Ukraine, the White House today said that US President Biden will call up Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday. White House also offered that Biden has offered Putin 'diplomatic path' on Ukraine tensions.

"US remains 'gravely concerned' by Russian troops near Ukraine," White House said adding that Biden will speak by telephone Thursday amid high tension on Ukraine ahead of US-Russia security talks next month.

Rajasthan Cabinet decides to make COVID vaccination mandatory for entry into public places after Jan 31. The government has also decided to strictly enforce night curfew. Malls and other commercial establishments are allowed to remain open till 10 pm every day.
