Navjot Singh Sidhu To Lead Punjab Congress, 4 Working Presidents To Be Appointed
Navjot Singh Sidhu to lead the state unit of Punjab, official announcement expected today.
Chandigarh: After the ongoing rift in Punjab Congress, sources have confirmed that the crisis will be resolved as soon as the party will choose the new state unit chief today.
Sources have revealed that an official announcement is expected today and Navjot Singh Sidhu will head the state unit of the party and 4 working presidents to be appointed with him, as quoted by ANI.
Earlier today, AICC general secretary and Punjab in-charge Harish Rawat arrived in Mohali and met Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh.
The meeting was held a day after Harish Rawat met Navjot Singh Sidhu and Sonia Gandhi but did not reveal any decision about appointing a new state Congress chief.
After meeting with Harish Rawat, Capt Amarinder Singh's spokesperson issued a statement that the Punjab CM will agree to the decision of the party's high command but he has also raised some points which need to be fulfilled by the party.
”Had a fruitful meeting with Harish Rawat. Reiterated that any decision of INC president will be acceptable to all. Raised certain issues which he said he’ll take up with the INC president," Raveen Thukral, Media Advisor to Punjab CM Capt Amarinder Singh quotes the CM.
Meanwhile, Sidhu met Sunil Jhakar on Saturday morning, who he may replace as the party unit chief in the coming days. Both Jhakar and Sidhu looked delighted to meet each other and there seemed no tension between them according to the pictures shared by ANI.
