CRPF Headquarters In Delhi Receives Bomb Threat Call; Declared Hoax
The call has been branded a "hoax," according to officials.
New Delhi: The CRPF headquarters in Delhi received a bomb threat call on Wednesday evening, which was later declared a hoax. PTI reported.
According to the officials, a call was received by the fire authorities around 6:30 pm about a "suspect bomb-like object" in the headquarters of the paramilitary force located inside the CGO complex on Lodhi Road in the national capital, PTI reported.
Two fire engines and several Delhi Police teams were dispatched to the site, but no bomb or dangerous object was discovered, the officials said
"A joint bomb detection team of the CRPF, CISF and Delhi Police was constituted and a thorough search was conducted along with the dog squad. Nothing was found in the premises of CRPF headquarters building and the surrounding area. The call was then declared a hoax," a senior police officer told PTI.
The CRPF head office reportedly received a phone call from Telangana, following which the police control room was alerted.
The national capital's security infrastructure is on high alert in light of the approaching Republic Day celebrations on January 26.
Bomb Scare In Trilokpuri
The incident comes hours after two abandoned suitcases in East Delhi's Trilokpuri lead to panic in the area. However, no explosives were found in the two bags. It contained a laptop and personal stuff.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (East District) Priyanka Kashyap, who reached the spot, said it was a case of bag lifting.
“A PCR call was received regarding two unidentified bags. Our teams reached the spot and found that nothing suspicious is there. It’s a case of bag lifting,” ANI quoted Kashyap as saying.
The police personnel had cordoned off the entire area after rushing to the spot on receiving a PCR call regarding the two unattended bags at around 12.30 p.m.
A bomb disposal squad of the Delhi Police had also reached the spot sensing the gravity of the situation.
Last week, a three kg Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was found concealed in an unattended bag at Delhi’s Ghazipur flower market area.
The National Security Guard (NSG) has said in its final post-blast investigation report that the IED found in Ghazipur flower market area had ammonium nitrate and RDX as its components and a timer was attached to it.
