'Black Day For Democracy': AAP Slams BJP Govt Over Manish Sisodia's Arrest

The AAP described Sisodia's detention as a "black day for democracy," claiming that the CBI nabbed him in a bogus case and that the BJP "made this arrest owing to political rivalry."

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday after the CBI arrested senior politician and Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia in connection with the excise policy case, news agency PTI reported.

The AAP described Sisodia's detention as a "black day for democracy," claiming that the CBI nabbed him in a bogus case and that the BJP "made this arrest owing to political rivalry."

Sanjay Singh of the AAP took a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the aftermath of Sisodia's arrest.

Taking to Twitter, Singh stated: "Manish Sisodia’s arrest is the height of dictatorship. Modi ji you are wrong to arrest a good person and the best education minister. Even God will not forgive you. One day your dictatorship will definitely end Modi ji."

Punjab Education Minister Jagdeep Singh also criticised PM Modi, saying the Prime Minister has demonstrated his fear of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

“By arresting Manish Sisodia, Modi proved how much he is afraid of Arvind Kejriwal, in the chapter of the country’s history. A black day!,” Jagdeep tweeted.

The arrest of the Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia was described as "dirty politics" by the national capital's chief minister and Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal. He took to Twitter, writing: "Manish is innocent. His arrest is dirty politics. There is a lot of anger among the people due to the arrest of Manish. Everyone is watching...our struggle will get stronger".

Claiming the CBI's case as "false", Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann stated: "Manish Sisodia arrested in a false case."

According to authorities, Sisodia was arrested by the CBI after almost eight hours of interrogation.

At about 11.12 a.m., Sisodia arrived at the CBI headquarters for the second round of questioning.

The CBI's Anti-Corruption Bureau quizzed the minister on different parts of the excise policy, his alleged connection with Dinesh Arora and other accused named in the FIR, and details of message exchanges from many phones, among other things.
