BJP MPs Arrived With Sticks In Parliament, Threatened Kharge, Rahul Gandhi: Gaurav Gogoi

Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi has alleged that BJP MPs armed with sticks threatened and pushed Congress leaders outside Parliament during the protests over Amit Shah's remarks on BR Ambedkar.

Congress MP from Assam Gaurav Gogoi alleged that he saw BJP's Members of Parliament arrive with sticks in hand to the Parliament premises. He said the BJP MPs even threatened and pushed Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and Rae Bareli MP Rahul Gandhi. Gogoi also claimed that security was absent on the premises.

"Today I saw the  BJP MPs being hostile and threatening towards Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and LOP Rahul Gandhi. The BJP MPs had sticks in their hands. I saw with my own eyes how Shri Mallikarjun Kharge was being threatened and pushed," he said.

He further urged a review of the security protocol that was undertaken at the steps of Makar Dwar on Thursday.

"INDIA MPs have protested often on the stairs but we have never been hostile towards other parties. We believe in non-violent agitation. Whenever INDIA alliance MPs are protesting on the stairs there is a security cordon so that other MPs can walk up without any disturbance. Today the security cordon was absent despite two simultaneous protests. Why this double standard? Why put MPs at risk of injury?  Does the BJP want provocation," he questioned in an X post.

The Congress also released a video to back Gaurav Gogoi's claim. Watch the video below:

The chaos and controversy began on Thursday when the INDIA bloc led by the Congress and the NDA headed by the BJP held protests simultaneously outside the Parliament. While the Congress alleged that Union Home Minister Amit Shah insulted BR Ambedkar with his "fashion" remark, the BJP claimed the Congress was lying to further its propaganda and dishonour Babasaheb.

During the protests, the MPs from both sides allegedly pushed and shoved each other. In the melee, two BJP MPs — Mukesh Rajput and Pratap Chandra Sarangi — fell and sustained injuries. Both were rushed to the hospital. Rajput had to be admitted to the ICU for his injuries.
