BJP Leader Kapil Mishra Dares Manish Sisodia To Take Lie Detector, Narco Test Over Comments On CBI

BJP Leader Kapil Mishra said: "...a man (Manish Sisodia) comes out after interrogation & gives false statements about officers of top central agencies."

After Sisodia remarked that Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) pressured him to leave the Aam Aadmi Party, BJP leader Kapil Mishra on Tuesday challenged him either to apologise for making false statements against CBI or face the media by 5 pm today, and said that "he's ready for a lie detector test & Narco test..," news agency ANI reported.

Speaking with ANI, Mishra said: "...a man (Manish Sisodia) comes out after interrogation & gives false statements about officers of top central agencies."

Earlier on Monday, the CBI questioned Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia for about 9 hours in connection with the Delhi's liquor policy scam.

Sisodia Claims CBI Asked Him to 'Leave AAP, Become Delhi CM or Face Jail Term'

After interrogation, Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia said, "I was asked inside the CBI office to leave (AAP), or else such cases will keep getting registered against me..."

Sisodia asserted at a news conference that he was under pressure to quit the AAP and was given the position of chief minister of Delhi.

“BJP says there is a Rs 10,000 crore excise scam. I found at CBI office that there is no scam and the case is fake. The fake case against me is a conspiracy to make BJP’s ‘Operation Lotus’ a success in Delhi,” he said, PTI reported.

“Pressure was put on me to quit the AAP. I was offered the Delhi chief minister’s post or face jail term,” Sisodia said.

Sisodia also referred to the BJP as a "dirty party" and questioned why he would want to quit the AAP for it.

CBI Denies Sisodia's Allegations

However, the CBI refuted claims that it threatened Sisodia and demanded him to leave his party.

“The CBI strongly refutes these allegations and reiterates that examination of Sisodia was carried out in a professional and legal manner strictly as per the allegations against him in the FIR. The investigation of the case will continue as per the law,” the agency said in an issued statement.

According to the statement, Sisodia was severely questioned about the claims made in the FIR and the material thus far gathered over the course of the inquiry.

Delhi Excise Policy Scam

In August, the CBI filed a FIR in a special court here against Sisodia and 14 others under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including 120B (criminal conspiracy) and 477A (falsification of records), as well as section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, which deals with using corrupt or illegal means or personal influence to influence a public servant.

The matter has become a cause of contention between the AAP and the BJP-led Union government.

Vinai Kumar Saxena, the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, has suggested that the CBI investigate suspected anomalies in the drafting and implementation of the Delhi excise policy, which was released in November last year.

Following the filing of the FIR, the CBI searched Sisodia's home and accessed his locker at a bank in Ghaziabad, they claimed.
