'Dhiraj Sahu ATM Of Gandhi Family': BJP Intensifies Attack On Congress MP After 'Clarification'

The BJP questioned where the money came from and said Congress MP Dhiraj Sahu was pressuring people as well.

Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) has intensified its attacks on the Congress after Income Tax officials recovered around Rs 353 crore from the premises of Congress MP Dhiraj Sahu in Jharkhand and Odisha. Now, the saffron party has directly targeted the Gandhi family and said the world knew Sahu was the "ATM of the Gandhi family".

Asking where the money came from home, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said, "The world knows that Dheeraj Sahu was the ATM of the Gandhi family... The question is where does this money come from? He was getting clicked with the Gandhi family and then pressurizing people...Everyone knows about his family and business..."

Former Union Minister and BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad called the raid the biggest in the country's history and said: "How he (Dheeraj Sahu) could not be aware of the Rs 300 crore cash which was there in his house... This is the biggest raid in India's history. This is the situation of the people of Congress party, that talks about the issue of corruption..."

This comes after Sahu said the cash that has been recovered is related to his liquor firms. Speaking with ANI, Dhiraj stated: "In the last 30-35 years of my political career, this is the first time that this kind of incident has taken place, due to which I am hurt. What is happening today makes me sad. I can admit that the money that has been recovered belongs to my firm. The cash that has been recovered is related to my liquor firms; it is the proceeds from the sale of liquor."

Congress MP Pramod Tiwari said Sahu has given a clear statement that the money is related to those firms that are run by his family. "He clearly said that Congress or any other party has nothing to do with it. The money belongs to their business and trade and those firms will explain them. Income Tax officials can do the interrogation..." Tiwari said amid the ongoing row.
