Bihar: Rahul Gandhi addresses 'Jan Akanksha Rally' in Patna, party's first in three decades

Congress’ Bihar unit in-charge Shakti Singh Gohil informed on Saturday that the members of the Mahagathbandhan in the state have been invited to join the event.

New Delhi: Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Sunday afternoon, delivered a thundering address at Congress' much anticipated 'Jan Akanksha Rally' in Gandhi Maidan of Bihar’s capital Patna, which is said to mark the beginning of party's campaign ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. The fact that it is the party’s first ever public rally in the state in nearly three decades, makes it a historic one under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi. Addressing the people of Bihar, Gandhi said that the opposition parties will together uproot BJP and Nitish Kumar's party from the state. "Both Modiji and Nitish make tall promises wherever they go, but they never deliver their promises. This time opposition will form government in Bihar," he said. The rally saw the presence of leaders of  'Mahagathbandhan' in the state, including RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav. Chief Ministers of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and senior party leader Ahmed Patel accompanied Gandhi in the rally. Madhya Pradesh CM Kamal Nath said at the rally: " The first thing I did, after assuming the charge as the CM, was waiving off the farm loan. Today is 3 Feb, till 3 March we will waive off the farm loan of 30 Lakh farmers. After 3 March, we will waive off farm loan of rest of the 15 Lakh farmers." Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel attacked the present government and said that the Constitution and constitutional institutions are under threat. "Farmers are in trouble.Unemployment is at the peak. There is organised loot. But, I'm confident that Bihar will rise once again," he said. Bihar opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav said that Congress President Rahul Gandhi was qualified to be the Prime Minister. "Rahul Gandhi is capable and qualified to hold the PM's post," Tejashwi Yadav said in his address at Congress 'Jan Aakansha' rally. The RJD leader reiterated that all like-minded parties should unite to defeat the Bharatiya Janata Party and its National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. He alleged that Prime Minister Narendar Modi had forgotten all the promises made during the 2014 Lok Sabha election campaign and failed to fulfill any of them. Among those who attended the event were, Sharad Yadav, Jitan Ram Manjhi, Tariq Anwar, Shaqeel Ahmed , Mukesh Sahni and leaders of Bihar Congress. Congress’ Bihar unit in-charge Shakti Singh Gohil informed on Saturday that the members of the Grand Alliance have been invited to join the event. In the rally, RJD leader Tejashwi yadav, RLSP chief Upendra Kushwaha, HAM chief Jitan Ram Manjhi, president of newly formed Vikassheel Insaan Party Mukesh Sahni, and leaders of leftist parties are expected to take part.
