'All Bihar Politicians Are Palturams': Prashant Kishor On Nitish Move, I.N.D.I.A Partners Call It 'Political Gain'

Taking a dig at the saffron party, Prashant Kishor referred back to a remark by Amit Shah, who had said the NDA “doors are forever closed for Nitish”

New Delhi: Hours after Nitish Kumar tendered his resignation as the Bihar Chief Minister to form a new alliance with the BJP, political strategist Prashant Kishor said the new JD(U)-BJP alliance won’t last after the Lok Sabha elections and said he was probably the only person to have said on record over the last one year that Kumar would flip sides anytime.

Speaking to the media on Sunday, Kishor said, “If you look back at my remarks over the past one year, then you would find out that I was the only person who on camera said that Nitish Kumar can change his side anytime. People already know that Nitish Kumar is a 'palturam' and 'sardar of palturams'.”

Taking a dig at the saffron party, Kishor referred back to a remark by Amit Shah, who had said the NDA “doors are forever closed for Nitish”. Shah made this remark when Nitish joined hands with RJD and Congress to form government in Bihar in 2022.

“Today's incident has shown that all politicians in Bihar are also palturam,” Prashant Kishor added.

Meanwhile, launching a scathing attack on Tejashwi Yadav, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi reminded the former that four AIMIM MLAs left the party to join ruling RJD in 2022 and said, “he has been played the same way he played us.”

“I want to ask Tejaswi Yadav how does it feel? He took away four of our MLAs. Does he feel the same pain now? He has been played the same way he played us,” Owaisi said.

He further said that Nitish Kumar, Tejaswi Yadav and Prime Minister Narendra Modi should apologise to the people of Bihar as they "have betrayed them”.

“Nitish Kumar, Tesjaswi Yadav, PM Modi should apologise to the people of Bihar... All three have betrayed the people of Bihar, especially Nitish Kumar... The term political opportunism will be an understatement, Nitish Kumar has broken all records... I always said Nitish Kumar would go with BJP,” Owaisi said.

Responding to Nitish jumping ship again, DMK said the political move is a “gain” for the Opposition bloc since the former has “lost all credibility”.

“People will never accept this act of betrayal. Though Kumar is a veteran leader in Bihar, he has completely lost credibility. He has no integrity. Integrity and credibility are very important for a leader. Nitish Kumar leaving the INDIA bloc is a gain for us (opposition alliance) and it is a loss for the BJP. People will teach a lesson to Nitish Kumar at the right time,” PTI quoted DMK spokesperson J Constandine Ravindran as saying.

Slamming Nitish Kumar over his “repeated political somersaults”, TMC MP Sougata Roy told PTI, “Nitish Kumar is known for his political somersaults at regular intervals. It is unfortunate that he has decided to quit the opposition grouping INDIA and is likely to join the NDA. The people will give a befitting reply to such political opportunism.”
