Video: CM Nitish Kumar Puts Fish In Tank At Event, Crowd Loots Them As Soon As He Leaves

One of the youths said that they had come there to catch the fish and not to see the chief minister.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar went to an exhibition organised by various government departments in Saharsa on Friday where he was asked to put some fish in a biofloc tank, which is used in fish farming, in addition to the ones that were already there. Soon after a helicopter carrying the CM took off from the event, a crowd of people, mainly children, descended on the tank. They even damaged the tank in their attempts to catch fish. In videos surfaced on social media, people can be seen holding fish in their hands.

Officials present at the exhibition tried to control the crowd, but failed. One of the youths said that they had come there to catch the fish and not to see the chief minister. "There will be a fish party in the name of Nitish Kumar," a boy was quoted as saying by India Today.

Event Causes Bihar Govt ₹45,000 Loss

District Fisheries Officer Subodh Kumar said that they had organised an exhibition for the Chief Minister, but ended up suffering a huge loss, as per the news report.
"After the event was over, people pounced on the fish, and looted it. They also damaged the biofloc tank in the process. We suffered a loss of around ₹45,000 due to this act of the people," the officer added.

CM Kumar laid the foundation stone for some government schemes and dedicated a Maa Vishhari temple to the people.

During his visit, Kumar handed over cheques to self help groups (SHGs) and beneficiaries of various schemes. After inaugurating the temple, the chief minister performed puja and planted saplings. He announced that the state tourism department will organsie a mega function in and around the temple complex every year.
