Patna: The Nitish Kumar government has announced new guidelines for the coming week in Bihar starting Wednesday, June 16. The Bihar Chief Minister said that the situation in the state was reviewed again and more relaxations have been announced,

"For the next 1 week i.e. from 16.06.21 to 22.06.21, now the government and non-government offices will remain open till 5 pm, shops and establishments will remain open till 6 pm. Night curfew will be in force from 8 pm to 5 am", said the Bihar CM.

What does CM Nitish Kumar had to say about lifting lockdown restrictions?

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had last week said that the lockdown has hugely "benefited" Bihar and further decisions regarding an Unlock will be taken based on the feedback by the local district officials.

"Some restrictions have been imposed... If people wear masks and follow the guidelines, it will be in their interest. Bihar has been unlocked for a week now," he had said.

"We talk to people everywhere. Talks are held with the district magistrates of all the districts. Everyone gives their feedback. On that basis, it is decided what decision should be taken next," he added.

Bihar's Covid status

According to the Union Health Ministry data, Bihar has over 5,300 active COVID-19 cases while 7.02 lakh patients have recovered from the infection. On the other hand, the death toll in Bihar stands at over 9,400, it noted.

Bihar, which has been successful in arresting the rising cases of coronavirus disease (Covid-19), has now shifted its focus to treating mucormycosis, also known as black fungus, according to the state health department.

As many as 562 cases of mucormycosis were reported in the state to date, out of which 76 lost their lives and only 153 were cured fully, the state health department said.
