MUNGER: A three-year-old girl who fell into a 110-feet borewell in Bihar’s Munger district on Tuesday evening has been saved after a massive rescue operation was put in place to take her out. The child, Sana, was playing in the courtyard of her maternal grandparents' house when she slipped and fell into a borewell shaft. The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) launched the rescue operation, which lasted for 23 hours, on Tuesday evening. The SDRF was later joined by a team of the NDRF which is reached there by helicopter. A team of doctors was pressed into service and adequate oxygen supply was ensured with the help of cylinders and pipes. A horizontal access had been dug out to reach the spot where the girl was stuck. Also, rods were placed in the borewell so that the girl doesn't fall further down. A few months back, another three-year-old girl was rescued by the ODRAF (Orissa Disaster Rapid Action Force) team in Angul district after she fell into an uncovered borewell of the area. The victim, Radha, had accidentally fallen into a borewell pit of about 50 metres in Gulasar village of Jamunali Gram Panchayat under Handapa Police Station limits. Apparently, she fell in the open pit while playing. Soon after, fire brigade personnel and police personnel got engaged in the rescue operation and with the help of the villagers, Radha was rescued safely. (With inputs from ANI)
