Bengaluru Vlogger Found Murdered, Suspect Stayed With Body For Two Days

Bengaluru news: A 26-year-old vlogger Maya Gogoi was found dead in a service apartment in Bengaluru’s Indira Nagar with multiple stab wounds to her chest. Maya had checked into the service apartment with a man identified as 28-year-old Aarav Harni on November 23.
According to CCTV footage, the two arrived together. Police suspect she was killed on the night of November 24 but Aarav allegedly stayed in the room with her body for nearly two days before fleeing the premises on Wednesday.
The grim discovery was made by housekeeping staff who entered the room after repeated calls from reception went unanswered. Maya’s partially decomposed body was found sprawled on the floor, bearing multiple stab wounds and a head injury. A knife, believed to be the murder weapon, has been recovered from the scene.
DCP Bengaluru, D Devaraja said, "We got information that there is some stinking smell coming from a room in a service apartment in Bengaluru's Indiranagar. Our officers and forensic team visited and found the body of a lady on the bed. After examination, a murder case was registered at Indiranagar Police Station."
"In the CCTV footage, we saw a man, Aarav Hanoy (21) from Kerala's Kannur and a woman, Maya Gogoi (19) from Assam's Guwahati, checked in at 12:28 PM on 23rd November. The man checked out at 08:19 AM on 26th November. Aarav Hanoy stabbed the deceased in her chest and several other injuries were found on her body," he said.
Further, the DCP, Bengaluru said that the deceased was working as a Councilor in Koramangala.
The police have launched a manhunt to track down Aarav, who is currently absconding. Teams are reviewing CCTV footage from nearby establishments to trace his movements after he left the apartment.
Preliminary findings reveal that Maya had been living in Bengaluru for six months, sharing an apartment in Whitefield with her sister and a friend. She had recently started working at a private firm in Jayanagar just 20 days before the incident.
Her sister informed investigators that Maya and Aarav shared a friendly relationship, but further details are being ascertained.
The police have registered a case under Sections 103 (murder) and 238 (causing disappearance of evidence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Forensic teams have collected crucial evidence from the crime scene and the post-mortem report is awaited to determine the exact time of death.
