NEW DELHI: A Tweet by the BCCI stroked a controversy on Twitter as it showed that a beef dish was served to the Indian cricket team at lunch on the third day of the second cricket Test against England at Lord's in London. The cricket board shared the menu for day-three in which featured "braised beef pasta" along with other dishes. However, the menu was for both teams and not for Team India alone as the meals were served buffet style and though the beef dish was included in the menu but that doesn't necessarily mean that Indian players had it. "A well earned lunch for #Team India," tweeted BCCI after seamer Mohammed Shami struck twice to reduce England to 89 for four at the end of the first session. Later, Jonny Bairstow (92*) and Chris Woakes (103*) put on a scintillating 182* for the sixth wicket as England defied India's advances to reach 313 for five till the time this report was filed. Earlier, Indian bowlers dominated the opening session of the day by reducing England to 89/4 at lunch. Alastair Cook (21), Keaton Jennings (11), debutant Ollie Pope (28) and skipper Joe Root (19) were the batsmen to have been dismissed, with England 18 runs behind India's first innings total. Some Twitter users reacted sharply at the menu for lunch while others seemed to play it down.
