Aurangabad violence: Peace prevails after 36 hours of tension

Section 144 is currently implemented in the city and internet services are shut down.

New Delhi: After the violent clashes between the two communities in Maharashtra's Aurangabad city that continued for 36 hours, an eerie silence prevails over the city now. Two people have been killed in this incident while 51 people are reported injured A 17 year old youth has allegedly died in police firing. Section 144 is currently implemented in the city and internet services have been suspended. More than 100 vehicles and shops have been burnt in violence. Police has arrested 25 people so far. As per the police officials, an argument broke out between two groups during the day time at a food joint. This was followed by exchange of WhatsApp messages, phone calls and violent posts. Thereafter, around 12 am on Saturday, two groups stepped out of their houses, pelted stones at each other and thereafter torched shops and vehicles.
