Bypoll Results: INDIA Bloc Wins Big As It Bags 10 Out Of 13 Seats In Fray, BJP Secures 2

Assembly Bypolls: The I.N.D.I.A bloc swept the bypolls, winning 10 out of the total 13 seats that went to bypolls across seven states. 

In the recent Assembly bypolls in India, the opposition bloc I.N.D.I.A dominated by winning 10 out of 13 seats.

Assembly Bypolls 2024: The opposition bloc I.N.D.I.A, which gave a tough fight to the ruling BJP-led NDA camp in the Lok Sabha polls, has dominated the Assembly bypolls by winning 10 out of the total 13 seats that went to polls across seven states. The BJP won two seats. Independent candidate Shankar Singh won the Rupauli seat of Bihar.

The voting for the bypolls was held on July 10. The bypolls took place in Assembly constituencies in West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Bihar, Tamil Nadu, and Madhya Pradesh.

Punjab

In the Punjab Assembly byelection,  Mohinder Bhagat won the Jalandhar West Assembly seat. He defeated BJP's Sheetal Angural by a margin of over 37,000 votes.

Himachal Pradesh

In Himachal Pradesh, Assembly bypolls were held on three seats. The opposition bloc I.N.D.I.A emerged victorious on two seats and one went to the BJP. Congress won the Dehra and Nalagarh Assembly seats, while the saffron party bagged Hamirpur. In Dehra, Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu's wife Kamlesh Thakur defeated BJP's Hoshyar Singh by a margin of over 9,000 votes. In Hamirpur, BJP candidate Ashish Sharma defeated Congress's Pushpinder Verma. As far as the Nalagarh Assembly constituency is concerned, Congress's Hardeep Singh Bawa defeated BJP's KL Thakur.

Madhya Pradesh

The Assembly bypolls in Madhya Pradesh were held in Amarwara constituency. The seat was bagged by BJP's Kamlesh Pratap Shah. He defeated Congress's Dheeran Sah Sukharam Das Invati by 3,027.

Bihar

In Bihar, the Assembly bypolls were held in the lone seat of Rupauli. The seat was bagged by Independent candidate Shankar Singh. He defeated Kaladhar Prasad Mandal of the Janata Dal (United).

Uttarakhand

Uttarakhand saw Assembly polls in two constituencies Badrinath and Manglaur. Both the seats were bagged by the opposition bloc I.N.D.I.A. Congress's Lakhapat Singh Butola won the Badrinath seat defeating BJP's Rajendra Singh Bhandari by 5,224 votes. In Manglaur, the grand old party's Qazi Mohammad Nizamuddin defeated the saffron party's Kartar Singh Bhadana.

Tamil Nadu 

In Tamil Nadu, bypolls were held in Vikravandi Assembly seat. The seat was won by Anniyur Siva against his nearest rival Pattali Makkal Katchi's C Anbumani by 67,757 votes. He secured 83,431 votes.

West Bengal

The All India Trinamool Congress swept all four Assembly seats in West Bengal where bypolls were held on July 10. Of the four, three seats--Ranaghat Dakshin, Bagdah, and Raiganj-- were previously held by the BJP. The TMC candidate for the Maniktala seat Supti Pandey also won against BJP candidate Kalyan Chaubey by 83,110.

Trinamool Congress candidate Madhuparna Thakur won the Bagda Assembly constituency in North 24 Parganas district against her nearest competitor and BJP candidate Binay Kumar Biswas. Bypolls in Raiganj were necessitated after BJP MLA Biswajit Das gave up his seats to contest the Lok Sabha elections.

Similarly, in the case of Ranaghat-Dakshin in Nadia district, the Trinamool Congress candidate Dr Mukutmani Adhikari won against BJP candidate Manoj Kumar Biswas.
