Ideas of India 2025: Bezwada Wilson, Satyajit Bhaktal, and Ramveer Tanwar Discuss Environmental Issues
At the Ideas of India Summit, three remarkable activists—Bezwada Wilson, Satyajit Bhaktal, and Ramveer Tanwar—gathered to discuss the pressing issues of environmental conservation and social justice in India. Their personal stories and shared experiences offer deep insights into the problems they are tackling. Bezwada Wilson, known for his activism against manual scavenging, reflected on the moment that changed his life. He recalled witnessing a person cleaning human waste by hand, an experience that left a lasting impact on him. This harrowing sight motivated him to dedicate his life to fighting for the dignity and rights of those trapped in the practice of manual scavenging, hoping to eliminate this inhumane practice forever. Satyajit Bhaktal, the CEO of Paani Foundation, spoke about his journey from working in the media to addressing environmental issues. He explained how his show Satyamev Jayate raised awareness about critical social issues, including water scarcity. Bhaktal’s foundation has since mobilized communities in Maharashtra through the Satyamev Jayate Water Cup, encouraging villages to come together and take charge of their water resources. Ramveer Tanwar, too, shared his commitment to improving environmental conditions, especially in rural areas. Together, these leaders are working to empower communities, drive sustainable change, and solve India’s most urgent environmental challenges.
