A Delhi court on Tuesday extended Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal's judicial custody till September 3 in Delhi Liquor Policy Case.

A Delhi court on Tuesday extended Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal's judicial custody till September 3 in Delhi Liquor Policy Case.

Arvind Kejriwal has been in custody since March 21 after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested him for alleged irregularities in the now scrapped Delhi Excise Policy. Ths Supreme Court has already granted interim bail to Kejriwal in the ED case. However, he is currently in jail in the CBI case.

The CBI has alleged that there is evidence to show that the AAP chief promised Rs 90 lakhs to each candidate of 40 constituencies in Goa elections. And that money allegedly came from the funds illegally amassed from the now scrapped Delhi Liquor Policy.

The CBI also moved an application seeking an extension of Kejriwal's judicial custody for 14 days.

Today, the Rouse Avenue Court extended the custody till September 3 after hearing CBI's arguments on the supplementary chargesheet against CM Kejriwal and others in the Delhi Liquor Policy case. The court has reserved verdict on the fourth supplementary chargesheet filed by the CBI.

Arvind Kejriwal was also produced in the Delhi court today through video conferencing. Kejriwal today told the court that his sugar is going down and sought permission from the court to have his lunch, He further requested the court to extend his judicial custody first. Thereafter the court extended Kejriwal's judicial custody till September 3.

The Supreme Court on Friday, adjourned hearing Kejriwal's bail plea in Liquor Policy Case after CBI sought more time to file its reply. The top court will resume hearing his bail plea on September 5. The top court is hearing two pleas by the Delhi CM; one against the CBI arrest and the other seeking bail in the CBI case.

Senior Advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi has time and again argued in the courts that Kejriwal's arrest by CBI is an insurance arrest. He said that when they realised that the Delhi CM will get bail in the ED case, he was arrested in the CBI case.
