Arunachal Pradesh: Army Personnel Deployed At India-China Border Missing From 13 Days

No information of Rana’s whereabouts has triggered anxiety and worry in his family including Mamata, his wife and two minor children — Anuj (10) and daughter Anamika (7), reported the news agency. 

New Delhi: An Indian Army personnel from Dehradun deployed at the India-China border in Arunachal Pradesh has gone missing for the past 13 days, triggering anxiety and worry among his family members, reported news agency PTI. 

Prakash Singh Rana was reported missing on May 29. Rana’s wife was informed about the incident by Army authorities telephonically. 

A jawan in 7th Garhwal Rifles, Rana who is originally a resident of Ukhimath in Rudraprayag district was deployed at the Thakla post on the Indo-China border in Arunachal Pradesh, as per the report.

Bharatiya Janata Party MLA from Sahaspur, Sahdev Singh Pundir, met the jawan's family at their Sainik colony residence in Dehradun on Friday to share their concern.

"I have spoken to the Union Minister of State for Defence Ajay Bhatt about it and he has assured me that something will be done," Pundir told the news agency.

He said details of the missing jawan have been sent to the Union Minister.

On Thursday, the Ministry of External Affairs said that India was carefully monitoring the developments along its border areas including the construction of infrastructure by the Chinese side in the eastern Ladakh sector. 

External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi made this comment in response to remarks by an American military commander that some of the defence infrastructures that China is creating near its border with India in Ladakh are "alarming". 

"India carefully monitors developments along our border areas including construction of infrastructure by the Chinese side in the western sector as well as those undertaken further in-depth areas," he said while addressing a media briefing.
