Arms Smuggling Network Busted: 3 Terrorists Held After Army, Baramulla Police Joint Operation

Joint forces of Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Indian Army have busted a terrorist network at Uri in Baramulla district. In a joint operation conducted by Baramulla Police and the Army's 16 SIKHLI, a suspicious person was apprehended during a patrolling and area dominance exercise at Churunda Uri. The individual tried to evade the patrolling party but was tactfully detained. Upon conducting a thorough personal search, the officials recovered two grenades from the suspect. The individual was later identified as Showkat Ali Awan, son of Abdul Karim Awan and a resident of Churunda Uri.
During further questioning, Showkat Ali Awan revealed the names of his accomplices, Ahmad Din and Mohammad Sadeeq Khatana, who were questioned, and upon their disclosure, 2 Grenades, 1 Chinese Pistol, 1 Pistol Magazine, and 4 live rounds were recovered from them, as per ABP News sources.
The Baramullah Police have registered a case under the Indian Arms Act and the UA (P) Act in Police Station Uri, and an investigation is underway into the matter. It is pertinent to mention here that the accused are involved in the cross-border smuggling of arms and ammunition at the behest of Pakistan-based terror handlers and its further distribution to LeT terrorists for carrying out terror activities, the sources said.
Security Forces Detain 3 Terrorists In Budgam, Recover Incriminating Materials
Security forces arrested three terrorist associates linked with the proscribed terror outfit LeT in Budgam, central Kashmir, and recovered incriminating materials, as reported by PTI. The arrests were made in the Khansahab area of the district. The terrorist associates were identified as Qaisar Ahmad Dar, a resident of Kremshora, and Tahir Ahmad Dar and Aqib Rashed Ganie, both residents of Wagar, the news agency reported, citing officials. A case has been registered.
Incriminating materials, including a Chinese hand grenade, two magazines, and 57 live rounds, have been recovered from their possession. All the recovered materials have been taken into case records for further investigation, the officials said.
