Andhra Pradesh: Statue of Mahatma Gandhi vandalized by miscreants in Visakhapatnam
Both the legs of the statue of Mahatma Gandhi were damaged by the unidentified miscreants.
NEW DELHI: A day ahead of the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, in Andhra Pradesh’s Visakhapatnam, a statue of Mahatma Gandhi was vandalised by miscreants on Monday.
Both the legs of the statue were damaged by the unidentified miscreants. Besides Gandhi’s statue, there were statues of other famous dignitaries like former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Bhim Rao Ambedkar Subhash Chandra but only Mahatma Gandhi's statue was targeted.
This is not the first time Gandhi’s statue was vandalized. Last month, Mahatma Gandhi statue in front of the Gandhi Peace Foundation office in Kacheripady was vandalised in broad daylight. The statue of the Mahatma which was in a seated position was split into two as it was pushed off the.
