Amit Shah Vows Judicial Action Against 26/11 Mumbai Attack Accused Tahawwur Rana

The Mumbai attack accused Rana was arrested in the United States on an extradition request by India for his role in the terror attack which involved 10 terrorists from Pakistan.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday said that 26/11 Mumbai terror attack accused Tahawwur Rana will soon face the Indian judiciary. Shah’s statement came as he highlighted the measures taken by the Modi government to curb terrorism and Naxalism. He also said that the cases of attack on Indian High Commission in London, Ottawa, and San Francisco by pro-Khalistani outfits will be handed over to the National Investigation Agency, adding that the Popular Front of India has been banned in the country and raids have been conducted at over 90 locations across the country.

“We banned PFI in the country and conducted raids at over 90 locations in the country. Cases regarding attacks on our missions in London, Ottawa and San Francisco were handed over to NIA (National Investigation Agency). 26/11 Tahawwur Hussain Rana will also soon face the judiciary in India,” Shah said, as per an ANI report.

The Mumbai attack accused Rana was arrested in the United States on an extradition request by India for his role in the terror attack which involved 10 terrorists from Pakistan who laid siege for over 60 hours, killing 160 people.

The attacks were carried out at several iconic locations across the country’s financial capital and included six US nationals among those who were killed.

Indian authorities have alleged that Rana had conspired the attack in cahoots with his childhood friend David Coleman Headley to assist the Pakistani terror group, Lashkar-e-Taiba in the orchestration of the attacks, as per the report.

During his speech, Shah said that terrorism was eradicated from Jammu and Kashmir after Prime Minister Narendra Modi formed the government at the Centre.

“In the view of internal security, there used to be three hotspots- Kashmir, the region of Naxals and Northeast and it continued to be the same for years. We changed our policies towards Kashmir in 2014. From 2014 to 19, Rajnath Singhji was Home Minister, and after that, I became Home Minister. We eradicated terrorism in the region,” Shah said.
