Amit Shah To Visit Gujarat Today; Will Inaugurate Projects, Address Event At Gujarat University

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to visit Gujarat on Wednesday in his first visit to his home-state after taking charge of his ministry. According to a MHA statement, Shah will inaugurate the Income Tax Flyover between Ashram Road and D.K. Patel Hall in Ahmedabad and will also participate in some other programmes. He will return to Delhi on Thursday afternoon. "After this, he would inaugurate the newly-built Income-Tax flyover at Ashram Road in Ahmedabad," the release added. The BJP president will then inaugurate D K Patel Hall, which is located at BS Ashram Road in Ahmedabad, at 5.15 pm on Wednesday. Shah will then address a 'welcome ceremony' at Gujarat University Convention Hall in the city at 6.15 pm Shah will assess the development works that has been done in Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency at GDMC ground in Ahmedabad, BJP said in a press release. Shah is the Lok Sabha MP from Gandhinagar constituency. He will participate in 'mangla aarti' at the Jagannath temple of Ahmedabad on Thursday, according to the press release. "Shah will arrive in Shamshabad on July 6 to launch the membership drive. Later in the day, he will attend a meeting with senior BJP leaders," news agency ANI quoted a BJP official. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shiv Raj Chouhan, who is heading BJP's Membership Committee, had also said: "Prime Minister Modi will start a membership drive on July 6 from Varanasi. He will be accompanied by JP Nadda. BJP president Amit Shah will start the drive in Telangana." "The arrangments for the membership campaign are in the last phase. The meetings of General Secretaries of all States and Districts are over. Now the village level meeting is going on," Chouhan said. "About 2 lakh membership drive coordinators will visit a polling booth for one whole day, mainly those booths where we have lost in the General Elections," he said. "Our party workers will go to railway stations, bus stands, markets, hostels and near factories during the membership campaign," he added. (inputs from agencies)
