Incessant rainfall in Gujarat has created a flood-like situation in the entire state giving residents a difficult time. Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday spoke to Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on the prevailing situation in the state and said the Centre and the state government are standing with the people in this troubled time. Heavy rains lashed several parts of Gujarat, inundating low-lying areas in cities and villages and creating a flood-like situation, reported PTI.
Due to the heavy rains in Gujarat, the government is fully engaged in providing all possible help to the people affected by the flood-like situation in many places.
"I talked to the Chief Minister Shri @Bhupendrapbjp ji and inquired about the situation. NDRF and SDRF teams and local administration are engaged in helping people in these areas. The Central Government and the State Government are standing with the people in this difficult time," Shah tweeted in Hindi.

- On Saturday, an Indian Air Force helicopter rescued two persons who were left clinging to an electric pole for several hours amid flooding in a low-lying area of Gujarat's Junagadh district due to heavy rains, an official said. According to PTI, the duo used their mobile phone to establish contact for their rescue, following which an NDRF team was roped in, an official said.
- With the state government's coordination, a helicopter was dispatched from Jamnagar Air Station and it managed to rescue them around 3.30 to 4 pm, he said. According to officials, the report stated, the NDRF's rescue efforts had lasted for 10 hours. However, they were unable to reach the men, who were stranded throughout the night, due to the strong water currents at the time.
- As per official data, Dharampur taluka in Valsad district and Khergam in Navsari district received 189 and 186 mm rainfall in 10 hours since 6 am on Saturday.
- Parts of Valsad, Navsari, Junagad, Amreli, Bharuch and Vapi received more than 100 mm rain in this period. The India meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall with extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places in the districts of Junagadh, Amreli, Navsari, Dangs and Valsad districts.
- Several areas of the state are expected to receive light to moderate rainfall till July 5. The IMD also advised fishermen not to venture along or off the Arabian Sea till July 3 because of squally weather likely to prevail due to active monsoon conditions.
- Meanwhile, teams of the NDRF and SDRF were deployed in Kutch, Jamnagar, Junagadh and Navsari, which were some of the worst-affected districts, the official said., reported PTI. Gandhidham railway station in Kutch was inundated as the district received very heavy rain.
- As per PTI, according to officials, areas in many districts in Saurashtra-Kutch and south Gujarat regions received extremely heavy rainfall, causing waterlogging in low-lying areas and leaving villages submerged. Several areas in Ahmedabad city too were waterlogged, which led to heavy traffic jams and inconvenienced commuters, they said.
- As per the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC), Visavadar taluka in Junagadh district received extremely heavy rainfall of 398 mm in a 24-hour period ending at 6am on Saturday. Jamnagar taluka of Jamnagar district (269 mm), Kaprada in Valsad (247 mm), Anjar in Kutch (239 mm) and Khergam in Navsari (222 mm) were some of the worst-hit areas, the SEOC stated.
- Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel held an emergency meeting with officials at the SEOC in Gandhinagar on Friday night and directed them to focus on rescue and relief works, including evacuating people living in low-lying areas.
- The India Meteorological Department has predicted that the intensity of rainfall will reduce in the state on Saturday and the situation will begin to normalise by Sunday. The department, however, warned of heavy rains at isolated places in the districts of north and south Gujarat and Saurashtra till Sunday morning. The IMD also said light to moderate rainfall will be witnessed in several parts of the state till Wednesday morning, the PTI report said.
