Jaipur-Bound Plane Catches Fire As It Makes Emergency Landing At Delhi Airport; All Passengers Safe
A massive tragedy was averted on Monday night after a Jaipur-bound Air India flight caught fire soon after taking off from the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi.
New Delhi: A major tragedy was averted on Monday night after a Jaipur-bound Alliance Air flight (a subsidy of Air India) experienced a nose landing gear problem and caught fire while landing back at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi, reports claim. The incident happened on the Alliance Air 9I643 Delhi to Jaipur flight.
After the detection of the problem approx after 15 minutes of taking off, the flight was diverted back to the Delhi airport and all passengers were evacuated from emergency exit. All passengers and cabin-crew members were brought out from the flight unhurt.

Fire tenders reached the spot and extinguished the fire. Reportedly, the flight took off from New Delhi airport at 8:00 pm. As off now, no official statement has been issued by the airlines. Delhi airport officials stated that "full emergency" was declared for the Alliance Air flight and it landed safely at the airport here at around 8:30 PM.
After the reports of aircraft's landing gear had witnessed some glitch, a full emergency was declared at the airport.
Alliance Air is an Indian regional airline and a wholly owned subsidiary of Air India. It was founded in 1996 and mainly operates domestic routes as part of the government's Regional Connectivity Scheme.
