Aim To Achieve Electronics Manufacturing And Exports Worth $300 Billion By 2025-26: MoS Chandrasekhar

The minister was speaking on his visit to Munoth Industries' first lithium cell manufacturing plant in India, which is located in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh's Electronics Manufacturing Cluster.

The MoS for Electronics and IT, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, emphasised that India can meet the target of $300 billion in electronics manufacturing and exports by 2025-26, and that the government is committed to working in partnership with all states to support startups and entrepreneurs interested in investing in this sector.

The minister was speaking on his visit to Munoth Industries' first lithium cell manufacturing plant in India, which is located in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh's Electronics Manufacturing Cluster.

"It’s an honour and privilege to be on this blessed land of Tirupati - abode of Sri Venkateswara. It is also one day before the birthday of our Prime Minister. For me, it is personally very fitting to be in Tirupati EMC and in India’s first lithium cell manufacturing plant," Chandrasekhar said.

“Our vision is to edge past the target of $300 bn worth of electronic manufacturing and exports by 2025-26. It translates to Rs 25 lakh crores, 24 times more than what it was when PM Modi took over in 2014 - 1.10 Lakh crores," he added.

Every company and every entrepreneur would be helped by the government's proactive policies and well calibrated programmes to realise their dreams, he claimed.

The lithium-ion factory's official opening and the start of commercial production are scheduled for the following month. The factory now has a 270 Mwh installed capacity and can generate 20,000 10Ah cells per day.

The minister lauded the electronics manufacturing clusters for being a step toward attaining PM Modi's goal of making India the world's centre of electronic production, the government said.

“The Electronics Manufacturing Clusters are fast becoming centres of creation of electronics manufacturing, innovation and jobs. They will be playing a big role in the future and shape India’s Techade in both design innovation and electronics manufacturing that are important areas of interest for our youth," he explained.

The Munoth Industries Limited, situated in Chennai, invested 165 crores to build this cutting-edge facility. The plant is situated in one of the two Electronics Manufacturing Clusters that Prime Minister Narendra Modi established in the temple town in 2015.
