ABP News-CVoter Survey: BJP In Driver’s Seat In UP, Projected To Win 212 To 224 Seats

In Punjab, the battle for the throne is between the ruling Congress and Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party. Incumbent BJP is running strong in the hill state of Uttarakhand.

New Delhi: As the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections draw closer, the high-voltage campaigning for the throne of Lucknow has picked up pace.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s leadership looks comfortable to continue in power in the politically crucial state.

The BJP-led alliance, as per the ABP News-CVoter Opinion Poll conducted in December, is expected to win 212 to 224 seats in the 403-member Uttar Pradesh Assembly.

The Samajwadi Party under former chief minister Akhilesh Yadav’s leadership is expected to bag around 151 to 163 seats.

The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), under former CM Mayawati, is likely to get only 12 to 24 seats, the survey suggests.

The Congress, which is campaigning in the state under the leadership of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, looks set to be disappointed yet again with the survey suggesting only 2 to 10 seats for the grand old party. It won seven seats in 2017.

The BJP-led alliance, which won 325 seats with a 41.4% vote share in 2017, is projected to bag 40.4% vote share, according to the December survey.

The Samajwadi Party, BSP, and Congress, respectively, are projected to get 33.6%, 13.2%, and 7.3.% vote share.

The Kaun Banega Mykhyamantri (KBM) opinion poll survey asked questions to people concerning Uttar Pradesh and their impacts on the political
parties’ performance in the 2022 assembly elections.

Q. If farmer leaders contest elections, who will benefit from it, BJP or opposition parties?

The BJP, in such a scenario, will win around 58.4% votes, while the Samajwadi Party, BSP and Congress will get 46.7%, 54.2% and 55.6%, votes respectively.

The ruling BJP will bag 71% votes, while the Samajwadi Party, BSP and Congress will get 75.6%, 73% and 62.9% votes respectively.

Q. Expressways got better during the tenure of Yogi Adityanath or Akhilesh Yadav?

51.8% of voters, as per the poll, express confidence in the BJP believing the expressways got better during Adityanath’s tenure, while 27.9%, 31.6% and 42% voters extend their support to the Samajwadi Party, BSP, and Congress.

Q. Do you think Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken the right step by withdrawing the agriculture laws?

51.80% of voters stand by the BJP-led NDA backing this decision, while 32.60% voters are of the view that the ruling dispensation at the Centre should have tried to explain the benefits of the agriculture laws instead of withdrawing them.

52.80% of Opposition voters, however, differ with the BJP-led government on this issue, while 29.40% voters believe the agriculture laws’ benefits should have been explained instead of withdrawing them.

Q. Do you think the inauguration of the Purvanchal Expressway will benefit the BJP in the elections?
