ABP News and CVoter conducted a survey in December on the most preferred chief ministerial candidates in 4 poll-bound states, and this is what they found.

New Delhi: With the Assembly elections in Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Goa, Uttarakhand, and Manipur just months away, ABP News and CVoter conducted a survey on the most preferred chief ministerial candidates in four poll-bound states.

As per the latest survey conducted in the month of December, UP voters seemed willing to give Yogi Adtityanath another term as CM, while Congress’ Harish Rawat found preference over incumbent CM Pushkar Singh Dhami. Here is what Punjab and Goa voters have in mind.

Punjab

According to the survey, a maximum of 32.9% respondents voted for Charanjit Singh Channi of Congress, while 23.7% people preferred Arvind Kejriwal of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Sukhbir Singh Badal of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) had 17.5% of people rooting for him, while 12.8% voted for Bhagwant Mann of AAP. Navjot Singh Sidhu of Indian National Congress (INC) got 4.7% votes and former Congress CM Capt. Amarinder Singh, who has formed Punjab Lok Congress (PNC), found his rating drop to 2.3%.

Uttar Pradesh

The survey shows that a maximum of 41% of people in the state voted for Yogi Adityanath of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Akhilesh Yadav of Samajwadi Party (SP) was not far behind at 33.5%, while 15% of votes went to Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati, and 4.3% to Priyanka Gandhi Vadra of INC. Jayant Chaudhary of Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) bagged 1.3% votes while 4.9% of people voted for ‘others’.

Uttarakhand

As per the ABP-CVoter survey, most people in the hill state, 33.5%, seemed to bring Harish Rawat of INC back as chief minister. CM Dhami had 26.6% votes, while BJP’s Anil Baluni for 18% votes and Col (retd) Ajay Kothiyal of AAP 8.9%.

BJP’s Bhuwan Chandra Khanduri got support of 3.5% people while 1.5% people rooted for Satpal Maharaj of BJP, and 8% votes went to ‘others’.

Goa

According to the pre-poll survey, 29.3% of voters want BJP’s Pramod Sawant as their chief minister, followed by 20.5% who want an AAP candidate to be the CM. While 13.5% people voted for Digambar Kamat of INC as CM, 11.8% votes went to Vishwajit Rane of BJP, 5.6% to Ramkrishna (Sudin) Dhavalikar of Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP), and 4.6% to Ravi Naik of BJP. Luizinho Faleiro of Trinamool Congress (TMC) and BJP’s Atanasio (Babush) Monserratte got 2.1% and 2% votes, respectively, and while 10.6% people voted for ‘others’.

[The present opinion poll/ survey was conducted by CVoter. The methodology used is CATI interviews of adult (18+) respondents with random numbers drawn from standard RDD and the sample size for the same is 92000+ across 5 states (UP, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Goa and Manipur) & the survey was carried out during the period 13th November 2021 to 9th December 2021. The same is also expected to have a margin of error of ±3 to ±5% and may not necessarily have factored in all criteria.]
